Massage
As cancer patients and their families progress through the cancer experience, patients may have pain that the best medications cannot alleviate. Families may suffer feelings of anxiety and stress alongside their loved ones. The simple act of attentive touch is good medicine for the physical and emotional discomforts that may accompany cancer and its treatments. The Cancer Center offers massage therapy to patients and their families in a relaxed, therapeutic environment for a discounted fee.
Jin Shin Jyutsu
Jin Shin Jyutsu frees up stagnant energy and restores physical and mental equilibrium. It has been found to be extraordinarily effective in acute as well as chronic conditions and can be used for anything from the common cold to cancer. For those in pain, it can provide great benefit. The practitioner works by placing his/her hands on specific parts of the body where the energy flows may be blocked, working to alleviate the problem. There is no fee for this service.
Reiki
Reiki is an ancient form of healing energy. It is based on the premise that every living thing is made up of Life Force Energy. When the body and mind is in optimal health, Life Force Energy flows freely. When this energy system is altered due to blockage, outside influence or internal stimulus, a person will demonstrate symptoms. These symptoms can manifest as chronic medical conditions, pain, fatigue, emotional and spiritual imbalances, and even interpersonal relationship problems.
A Reiki practitioner is "attuned" to carry and funnel large amounts of Pure Life Force Energy. The energy does not come from the Reiki practitioner. Rather, the Life Force Energy is funneled through the practitioner like a straw. The funneled energy will then recalibrate the recipient's energy system allowing the body, mind and spirit to heal.
